Dance into spring with this vivacious and appealing reddish orange that sets the mood for high energy and passion! Tangerine Tango is here to stay . . . expect to see this dramatic and seductive orange in all aspects of design, from clothing and home décor, to make-up and appliances.
As soon as the announcement was made by Pantone Color Institute®, that Tangerine Tango would be the color of 2012, designers from all aspects of industry, set out to “mark” their product
with the most highly recognized color for the year. For more than a decade, Pantone’s Color of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.
Each December, Pantone LLC, the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, selects the color to be named for the successive year. The selection is a very thoughtful process. Pantone, searches the world looking for color influences. These include the film and entertainment industry, fashionable vacation spots, popular art collections, hot new artists as well as innovations from technology. With the availability of new textures and effects, color is influenced. Even, worldwide sporting events can impact the choice for color of the year.
A spirited reddish orange, Tangerine Tango, is seen as a “motivating” color, one that will provide us with an energy boost to recharge ourselves and move forward with purpose. Just as “the Tango” is a dance of energy and seduction, the color is described as sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive. “Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
Expect to see it everywhere, designers, including including Tommy Hilfiger, Nanette Lepore, Cynthia Steffe and Adrienne Vittadini, are incorporating this exciting orange into their spring collections. A fun, lively version of a traditional autumnal hue, Tangerine Tango will surely carry through to fall fashion as well.
In home décor, Tangerine Tango patterned home accessories will soon energize living spaces everywhere. Pillows, bedspreads and tabletop accessories in this high-impact hue will add spice to any room. Look for Tangerine Tango colored walls in restaurants, hotels and office buildings across the globe.
Also, prominent in the cosmetics industry, due to its versatility, Tangerine Tango is a bit exotic, but in a very friendly way.
