Turn simple glasses into Halloween lanterns! And learn about Vitrail painting!

  •  Drying time: 2 hours to the touch, completely dry in 10 hours

  • Time to make: 1 hour per pumpkin
  • Difficulty: medium - age 10 and up

  • Thoroughly clean the glasses you want to paint.

  • Using the black outliner, draw the pumpkin's eyes, nose and mouth. Leave to dry well.
  •  with black vitrail fill in the eyes, nose and mouth. Leave to dry.

  • Mix the different shades of lemon, crimson, coral and dark purple and colour the glass to create the pumpkin effect with vertical brush strokes.
  • Use crimson and dark purple to mark darker vertical lines on your pumpkin.
  • Put a layer of coral and lemon mixed together between each vertical line.

  • Add small spots of light to give your pumpkin volume. To do so, paint a few white lines and cover them with lemon yellow.
  • While leaving your first pumpkin to dry out, make more pumpkins using the same principle with the other glasses. Ask an adult to clean your brush thoroughly using white spirit.
  • Put a small LED candle inside each glass to illuminate your pumpkins and place them on a windowsill to celebrate Halloween!
