UNDERSTANDING OUR LABELS

Pébéo attaches the utmost importance to the quality of its products, as well as to all regulatory aspects applicable to them (composition, labeling, markings, etc.).
Pebeo is very active in the various standardization bodies, which means it is always in close contact with the regulatory aspects of toy safety.
The main regulatory markings are described below. They are applicable according to the type of product and the country where it is distributed.

METROLOGICAL SIGN: This sign is found on pre-packaged products (i.e. products presented in a package). It signifies that the prepackager or importer certifies the volume or quantity of the prepackaged product he is marketing.

GREEN POINT
The green dot logo on household product packaging. In France, it means that the producer of the product contributes to the packaging recovery scheme.

Diffuse and Specific Waste (DDS)
In France, this logo indicates that certain chemical product waste (containers and contents) which may present a significant risk to health and the environment must be disposed of in a specific way, and must not be mixed with household waste.

In France, this logo appears on all recyclable products (cardboard, glass, metal, etc.).

CE MARKING
Mandatory on toys intended for children under 14. It means that the toy complies with the requirements of the European Toy Safety Directive, including EN71 toy standards.

Age warning
This symbol replaces the phrase "Not suitable for children under three years of age". It is accompanied by the hazard (e.g. presence of small parts) and the associated risk (e.g. choking hazard).

TOUCH-SENSITIVE HAZARD WARNING
This embossed triangle lets blind people know they're using a dangerous product. The triangle is transparent.

CHILD SAFETY LOCK
Products that present a serious risk of intoxication if accidentally swallowed are fitted with a safety closure. The cap can only be opened by unscrewing it and pressing hard. All hazardous products must be kept out of the reach of children.

ACMI
In the USA, the AP (approved product) pictogram indicates that the product is non-hazardous for both children and adults. In the USA, the CL (caution labeling) pictogram indicates that the product presents certain hazards and that the label must be completed with certain phrases (flammable, harmful, etc.).

In Denmark, indicates that a toy may be used by children over 3 years of age.

Dye classification register in which each dye is represented by two sets of letters and two sets of numbers:
1 or 2 letters for :
  • P =pigment
  • CA=acid dye
  • CB=basic dye
  • N =natural pigment
  • 1 or 2 letters for :
  • B =blue
  • Bk= black
  • Br= brown
  • G =green
  • M =metallic
  • O =orange
  • R =red
  • V =violet
  • W =white
  • Y =yellow
  • 1 to 3 digits: registration order number for different colorants
    5 "constitution" digits characterizing chemical formulas.
    Examples:
  • P B 15:3 n° 74160 = phthalocyanine blue pigment (here, n°3, type β, unmodified)
  • P Y 41 n° 77588= Naples yellow pigment (lead antimonate)
  • P M 2 n° 77400= metallic copper pigment (copper itself as well as brass)
  • N Y 3 n° 75300 = curcumin, coloring principle of natural turmeric

    These new indications of danger are based on UN recommendations and can be used in all countries of the world:

    GHS 02 Flammable I flame I can be ignited by flames, sparks, static electricity, heat, friction, air or water if I give off flammable gases.

    GHS 04 pressurized gases
    I'm under pressure: I can explode when heated (compressed gases, liquefied gases, dissolved gases). I can cause burns or injuries due to cold (refrigerated liquefied gases).

    GHS 05 corrosive - irritant
    I corrode: I can attack or destroy metals. I corrode the skin and/or eyes in the event of contact or projection.

    GHS 07 I damage health: I poison in large doses. I irritate the skin, eyes and/or respiratory tract. I can cause skin allergies (e.g. eczema). I can cause drowsiness or dizziness.

    GHS 08 CMR ... danger to health I can cause cancer. I can modify DNA. I can harm fertility or the fetus. I can alter the functioning of certain organs. I can be fatal if ingested and then entered the respiratory tract. I can cause respiratory allergies (asthma, for example).

    GHS 09 danger for the aquatic environment
    I pollute: I cause harmful effects on organisms in the aquatic environment (fish, crustaceans, algae, other aquatic plants...).
